Papers of James Phinney Baxter [manuscript], 1885-1904.

The collection includes a letter, 1885, from James Phinney Baxter to "Dear Gould," concerning financial arrangements, his reception by Queen Victoria, a sermon by Charles H. Spurgeon, and travel through the British Isles and Europe. There is also a letter, 1904, from Henry H. Edes to James Phinney Baxter, discussing the annual dinner for the Colonial Society of Massachusetts and requesting that Baxter nominate John Carroll Perkins to membership in the Society. With it is an invitation, 1904, to the Colonial Society of Massachusetts' annual dinner.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, born in 1834, was a Baptist minister in Great Britain.
